The Collection
Every DesigNA piece begins with a simple cheek swab. Your DNA is analysed at our ISO-accredited laboratory, and the resulting genetic profile is translated into a unique arrangement of semi-precious stones — handcrafted into jewellery that belongs only to you.
Whether you are treating yourself or giving someone a gift as extraordinary as they are, DesigNA creates something science could design and only you could inspire.

How unique is DNA?
DNA is virtually unique to every individual, with the exception of identical twins who share the same genetic code. The probability of two unrelated people having the same DNA profile is approximately 1 in several billion, making your genetic makeup one of the most distinctive identifiers you possess.
At DesigNA, we use STR (Short Tandem Repeat) profiling to analyse specific regions of your DNA that vary greatly between individuals. These genetic markers create a unique pattern that we translate into your personalised DNA jewellery. This means your DesigNA necklace represents a truly one-of-a-kind genetic signature that is exclusively yours.
How does ordering work?
Ordering your personalised DNA necklace from DesigNA is a simple three-step process. First, you place your order online and we’ll send you a free DNA sampling kit to your address. Second, you collect a quick cheek swab sample at home (takes less than a minute) and post it back to our ISO-accredited laboratory partner, Complement Genomics Ltd, using the prepaid envelope provided. Third, our lab analyses your unique DNA profile using STR (Short Tandem Repeat) profiling, and we handcraft your bespoke necklace based on your genetic pattern.
The entire process takes 7-14 working days from the moment your DNA sample arrives at the laboratory. You’ll receive tracking updates throughout, and your finished DNA jewellery will be delivered to you in premium presentation packaging, complete with a certificate explaining your unique genetic design. It’s a straightforward process that combines cutting-edge genetics with traditional jewellery craftsmanship to create something truly personal.
What materials are used?
DesigNA necklaces feature carefully selected semi-precious stones that represent your unique DNA profile. Each stone in your necklace corresponds to specific genetic markers identified through STR profiling, with different coloured gemstones representing the variations in your DNA sequence.
We use high-quality semi-precious stones including amethyst, garnet, tiger’s eye, new jade, and other natural gemstones, all set on a durable chain. The specific combination and arrangement of stones is determined entirely by your individual DNA analysis, meaning no two necklaces are the same (unless created from identical twins). Each stone is carefully positioned to create a wearable representation of your genetic code, combining scientific accuracy with beautiful, lasting jewellery design.
We use natural freshwater pearls, 925 silver sterling, 9ct gold and genuine leather for those specific necklace designs. Our products are built to last, ensuring your DNA necklace remains a treasured keepsake for years to come.
Does the necklace contain actual DNA?
No — your DesigNA necklace does not contain physical DNA. Instead, it features a unique arrangement of semi-precious gemstones that represent your individual genetic profile. Through STR (Short Tandem Repeat) profiling, our laboratory identifies specific genetic markers in your DNA sample. Each marker is translated into a corresponding stone, colour, and position within your necklace, creating a wearable expression of your genetic code.
Your DNA sample is used solely for profiling purposes and is handled in strict accordance with UK data protection legislation and laboratory accreditation standards. The result is jewellery that is scientifically derived from your DNA — crafted entirely from beautiful, lasting materials.
