The uniqueness

A piece only you could ever wear

Every person carries a genetic code that has never existed before and will never exist again. At DesigNA, we translate that code into a piece of fine jewellery. Not a representation. Not a metaphor. A physical object, scientifically derived from you.

Each piece begins with a single cheek swab, processed in a laboratory with over 25 years in genetic testing. From your unique STR profile, our jewellers craft a design that no other person on earth could own, and it arrives with a numbered certificate confirming it.

Common questions

What is DNA jewellery?

DNA jewellery is a piece designed from your own genetic profile rather than chosen from a catalogue. At DesigNA, a simple cheek swab is analysed by a UK forensic laboratory across 23 autosomal markers. At each marker your alleles are read and labelled with coloured fluorescent dyes, and those dye colours appear as the stones set along your piece, in the exact order your DNA places them. The result exists in one place only.

How does DesigNA turn DNA into jewellery?

You send a cheek swab in your collection kit. Our laboratory partner analyses 23 autosomal STR markers from your DNA. The stone colours echo the fluorescent dyes used to read your markers, and your unique allele pattern sets where each marker sits along your piece. Your piece is then hand made in Birmingham with a certificate of authenticity.

Is DesigNA jewellery genuinely one of a kind?

Yes, in the strictest sense. The design is generated from your unique allele profile across 23 markers, so it exists only once. Your certificate of authenticity records the data behind it. The only exception is an identical twin, who shares the same profile.

How long until my piece arrives?

Your finished piece is delivered within 2 to 3 weeks of the laboratory receiving your sample, with free UK tracked delivery. Each piece is hand made to order in Birmingham, so the short wait is the craft, not a delay.
