Size guide
Every DesigNA piece is made once, for one person, so getting the fit right before you order matters more than it does with jewellery you could exchange. This page tells you exactly what each piece measures, how it adjusts, and how to measure yourself or someone else in under a minute.
Necklaces
Every DNA Profile Necklace comes in three lengths. Each length includes a 2 inch (5 cm) extender chain, so the figure you choose is a range rather than a fixed point. The chain fastens with a single lobster clasp at one end and the extender at the other, finished with a small stamped disc.
| Length option | In centimetres | Where it sits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 16" to 18" | 40.5 to 45.5 cm | At the collarbone | Open necklines, layering as the shortest piece, a close and delicate look |
| 18" to 20" | 45.5 to 51 cm | Just below the collarbone | The most versatile length. If you are buying as a gift and unsure, choose this one |
| 20" to 22" | 51 to 56 cm | On the upper chest | Wearing over a top or knit, taller frames, a longer line |
How to measure for a necklace
- Take a soft tape measure, or a piece of string or ribbon and a ruler.
- Loop it around the neck at the point where you would like the necklace to sit, not tight against the skin. Note the measurement.
- Pick the option whose range contains that number. Because of the extender, a length that lands at the lower end of a range still fits comfortably.
- Quicker still, lay a necklace you already own and like the fall of end to end on a flat surface, measure it, and match it to the table.
The pattern of markers along the necklace is set by the DNA profile, and the length option only changes how much plain spacer sits at each end nearest the clasp. Your pattern is the same whichever length you choose.
Bracelets
You do not choose a bracelet size at checkout, and that is deliberate. Every DesigNA bracelet adjusts on the wrist. There are two ways it does that, and which one you get depends on the style.
Spider slider styles
The Spider Silver Clasp, Spider Pearl Clasp, Spider Silver and Gold, and Spider Pearl and Gold DNA Profile Bracelets fasten with a slider. Two fine chains pass through a small central slider, so the bracelet pulls to your exact wrist and holds where you leave it. Open it out, slip it over the hand, draw it in. This is the most forgiving fit in the range and the safest choice when you are buying for someone whose wrist size you do not know.
Lobster clasp styles
The Pearl Clasp, Pearl and Gold Clasp, Silver and Gold Clasp, and all four Twisted DNA Profile Bracelets fasten with a lobster clasp and an extension chain. You clip into whichever link sits comfortably, which lets the same bracelet sit close to the skin or move a little more freely, and works over a shirt cuff as well as against the wrist.
How to measure a wrist
- Wrap a soft tape or a strip of paper around the wrist just above the wrist bone, where a bracelet naturally rests.
- Mark where it meets and measure the strip against a ruler. Most adult wrists fall between 15 and 19 cm.
- For a spider slider style, any measurement in that range is comfortably covered. For a lobster clasp style, if you would like the exact fastened length and extension range of a specific piece before you order, email sales@mydesigna.co.uk and we will confirm it for that piece.
The DNA Representation Pendant
The pendant is a ready to wear piece and holds no personal profile, so there is nothing to size beyond the chain. Chain details are on the pendant page.
If you are still unsure
Buying as a gift with no way to measure? Choose the 18" to 20" necklace or any spider slider bracelet. Both are built to cover the widest range. And if you would like a second opinion before you order, send us a message with what you know and we will suggest the option that fits.
Once your piece has been made from your sample it cannot be resized or exchanged, because the pattern belongs to one person. Full details are in our returns policy.
