How It Works

From a single DNA swab to a piece of jewellery made for nobody else on earth.

Your DesigNA Journey

Step 1. Order Your Kit

Choose your product and place your order. Your DNA collection kit arrives within days.

Step 2. Swab & Return

A simple, painless cheek swab takes under a minute. Return it in the prepaid envelope provided.

Step 3. DNA Analysis

Our partner laboratory extracts your unique STR profile, the genetic fingerprint used in your design.

Step 4. Design Creation

Your DNA profile is translated into a bespoke jewellery design. Every measurement is uniquely yours.

Step 5. Yours to Treasure

Your finished piece arrives beautifully packaged, a one of one creation that exists nowhere else on earth.

Short Tandem Repeats

Once your swab arrives at the lab, we begin creating your unique DNA profile using STR analysis. STR analysis is the gold standard for personal identification, it’s what forensic scientists use in criminal cases and what you see in shows like CSI and Silent Witness. This means your jewellery is based on the most accurate, reliable genetic profiling available.

Chromatographs

Once your DNA sample is processed, the lab produces a series of chromatographs, visual readouts showing the peaks and valleys of your STR markers. Each peak represents a genetic marker at a specific position, and the height and location of each peak is completely unique to you.

Three of your five chromatographs are shown below. Together, these form the raw material of your design.

Mapping your profile to our jewellery

Overlaid DNA chromatographs mapped to a jewellery design pattern

We take all five of your chromatographs and overlay them onto a single scale, combining your genetic markers into one comprehensive pattern.

Think of it like layers of tracing paper, each showing different coloured peaks at different positions. When we stack them together, we can see exactly where each genetic marker sits along the scale.

This overlapped pattern is what becomes your jewellery design, a visual fingerprint that is scientifically unique to you.

Note: in the image above we have overlapped 3 of 5 chromatographs for illustration. Your final piece uses all five, creating an even richer and more individual pattern.

The final product

Then your jewellery is hand made from the template your very own DNA gave to us. This produces a beautiful work of art which is a true one of one piece which can’t be replicated.*

Common questions

Can two people’s DNA be combined in one piece?

Not currently. Each piece is made from one person’s DNA. We may introduce combined designs in future, but for now every piece reads a single individual’s profile.

What is on the certificate of authenticity?

Your certificate records the genetic data behind your design and the template used to make your piece, your proof that it is generated from your DNA and exists only once.

Can I reorder the same design later?

Because we do not store your DNA profile after your piece ships, an exact reorder is not possible. You would place a new order and provide a fresh sample.

Watch it happen

From your DNA to a design, in 28 seconds

This is not an illustration. The animation places every bead with the same formula our production system uses to read your profile, so what you watch is exactly how your piece is designed. Turn the sound on for the full story.

The certificate

Proof it could never exist twice

Every piece arrives with a numbered certificate of authenticity recording the marker data behind your design. It is the difference between jewellery that says your name and jewellery that could only ever be you.
