The reveal
A DesigNA gift unwraps twice.
First the box, the sleeve and the certificate. Then, weeks later, the piece itself, made from their own profile. Most gifts are opened once and remembered sometimes. This one gets talked about.
If you are working to a date, two parts are fixed: the kit reaches you in 2 to 3 working days, and the piece is made in 2 to 3 weeks from the day the laboratory has the swab. The only thing that moves is how quickly it goes back in the post.

Can I buy a DNA necklace as a surprise?
You can surprise someone with the kit, not with the swab. The law is clear that an adult's DNA is analysed only with their own consent, so the swab has to be taken by the person wearing the piece. Most people give the kit as the visible gift, open it together, and the finished piece arrives a few weeks later as the second half.
What does the person receiving it have to do?
Rub the swab inside their cheek for about a minute and post it back in the prepaid envelope. That is the whole of it. Nothing to fill in, no blood, no appointment.
What if I do not know their size?
Nothing is lost if you guess. Necklaces come in three lengths and every one carries a 2 inch extender, and every bracelet adjusts on the wrist. If the length needs changing after the kit arrives, email us before the piece is made and we will change it.
How far ahead do I need to order for a birthday or Christmas?
Two parts are fixed: 2 to 3 working days for the kit to reach you, then 2 to 3 weeks of making from the day the lab has the swab. In between is however long the swab takes to come back, so swab early and it is usually about three to four weeks in all. For Christmas 2026 the order by date is Sunday 15 November. After that, give the kit on the day and let the piece follow.
