Wedding gifts

A gift for the couple, not the day.

Most wedding presents are for the house. A DNA jewellery wedding gift is for the two people: a pearl piece for the bride made from her own profile, or a pair made from each of them, strung in the same metal and never the same pattern.

  • Pearl, silver or gold
  • A pair from two profiles
  • Certificates with both pieces

Why a wedding

Something old, something new, something only theirs.

Freshwater pearls are the wedding stone, and the Pearl DNA Profile Necklace sets the bride's own markers between them in silver. For the pair, the Silver and Gold Pattern and Pearl and Gold Pattern necklaces carry no stones at all: gold spheres mark the positions, so two pieces in the same metal still read as two different people. Order two in one order and the second is half price.

How DesigNA works

What makes it the gift

Three reasons it suits weddings.

  • Why DesigNA

    For the couple

Not for the house. Two pieces made from the two of them, or one piece for the bride.

How it works as a gift

Two moments, not one.

  1. 1

Give the kits at the wedding or before

A card with the kit inside works on the day. Order two pieces together and the second is half price.

  2. 2

    Each of them swabs

Each person takes their own cheek swab and signs their own form, usually in the first quiet week after the wedding.

  3. 3

    The pieces arrive together

Made in 2 to 3 weeks from the day the laboratory has the swabs, each boxed with its own certificate.

Before you buy

Weddings questions, answered.

Is DNA jewellery a good wedding gift?

It is a gift for the couple rather than for the house, and it is one of the few that cannot be duplicated by another guest. One piece for the bride, or a pair made from each of them, arrives with certificates and is still worn years later.

Can we buy a matching pair for the couple?

Yes. Add two pieces to one order and the second is half price. Two kits arrive, each of them takes their own swab, and two patterns come back in the same metal. The pattern necklaces, with gold markers and no stones, make the most elegant pair.

Can a group of guests buy one together?

Yes. One person places the order and the others contribute. The DesigNA gift card from £50 also works if you would rather let the couple choose the piece themselves.

How long before the wedding should we order?

The couple takes the swab, so the finished piece usually follows the wedding rather than arriving before it. Give the kit on the day and the piece lands about 3 to 4 weeks later, in the gap after the honeymoon when nothing else arrives.

What is a good wedding gift for a couple who has everything?

A gift made from the two of them. Two DesigNA pieces in one order, one from each profile, and the second is half price. The Silver and Gold Pattern DNA Profile Necklace at £279 and the Pearl and Gold Pattern DNA Profile Necklace at £289 carry gold markers and no stones, so they make an elegant pair that still reads as two different people.

What is a unique wedding gift that is not on the registry?

Jewellery made from the couple's own DNA. Nothing on a registry can be made from a person, and no other guest can give the same thing. One kit for each of them arrives in the DesigNA box, they take their own swabs after the wedding, and the pieces follow with certificates. Browse the full collection.

What jewellery can I give the bride?

The Pearl DNA Profile Necklace at £275. Freshwater pearls are the wedding stone, and her own markers sit between them as natural stones in sterling silver. It is made from her, so it is hers before she has even worn it. The Twisted Pearl DNA Profile Bracelet at £229 is the matching bracelet.

What is a good wedding gift for the groom?

The Twisted Silver and Gold DNA Profile Bracelet at £229, two strands of silver with gold markers wound into a rope, or the Spider Silver and Gold DNA Profile Bracelet at £199 with its slider. Neither carries stones, so they suit a man who does not wear jewellery, and both are made from his own profile.

Can guests club together for a DNA jewellery wedding gift?

Yes. One person places the order and the others contribute, or the DesigNA gift card from £50 lets several people give a card each and the couple choose. A gift card never expires in the sense that matters: the couple order when they are ready and take the swab in their own time.

How does a wedding gift work if the couple have to take a swab?

The kit is the part you hand over, in the box, on the day or before. Each of them takes their own cheek swab, usually in the quiet week after the wedding, and posts it in the prepaid envelope. The pieces arrive about 3 to 4 weeks later. See the gift page for the timeline.

Can I give it as a surprise?

You can surprise them with the kit, not with the swab. An adult's DNA is analysed only with their own consent, so the person who will wear the piece takes their own swab. Most people find the reveal works better anyway: the kit is the moment, and the piece arrives a few weeks later as a second one.

What if I do not know their size?

Nothing is lost if you guess. Necklaces come in 16, 18 or 20 inches and every one carries a 2 inch extender, and every bracelet adjusts on the wrist with an extender chain or a slider.

Does the price include everything?

Yes. The price of the piece covers the kit, the laboratory work, the making, the signed certificate, the box and free UK tracked delivery for both parcels. There is nothing to add at checkout.
