Track your order
A DesigNA piece takes longer to arrive than most jewellery, because it cannot be made until we have read your DNA. This page sets out every stage, how long each one takes, and what to do if something has taken longer than it should.
The five stages
- Order confirmed. You receive an order confirmation by email within a few minutes of paying. Your order number is on it, and every later email will carry the same number.
- Kit dispatched. We post your DNA collection kit within two to three working days of your order, by free UK tracked delivery. You receive a second email with the tracking reference the moment it leaves us.
- You take the swab. The kit holds a cheek swab and simple instructions. The swab itself takes about thirty seconds. Follow the instructions in the kit to return it to us. The sooner it comes back, the sooner the next stage starts.
- Sample received and profiled. When your sample reaches the laboratory we email to let you know. The laboratory reads the identity markers in your profile and destroys the sample once the reading is complete. Those markers decide where every stone sits along your piece.
- Made and dispatched. Your piece is made in the UK and finished in two to three weeks from the day your sample reaches the laboratory. It leaves us by tracked delivery with its Certificate of Authenticity in the box, and you receive the tracking reference by email.
Where is my order right now?
Your order confirmation email carries a link to your order status page, which shows each shipment and its tracking as it happens. If you created an account at checkout, the same information is under your account. If you cannot find the email, check your junk folder for a message from DesigNA, or contact us with the name and postcode on the order and we will resend it.
How long the whole thing takes
From order to finished piece is usually four to five weeks, and most of the variation comes from how quickly the swab is posted back. Kit out in two to three working days, a day or two for it to reach you, however long the swab sits on the side before it goes in the post, a day or two back to us, then two to three weeks for the piece itself.
If you are ordering for a date, count backwards from it: allow the full five weeks and post the swab back the day it arrives.
If it has been longer than it should
- No kit five working days after ordering. Check the tracking in your dispatch email first. If it shows nothing, or the kit has gone astray, contact us and we will send another.
- Swab posted back over a week ago with no email from us. Post can be slow, but a week is longer than it should be. Get in touch and we will check whether the sample has reached the laboratory.
- More than three weeks since we confirmed your sample arrived. Contact us with your order number. We will tell you exactly where your piece is.
Buying as a gift
The piece cannot be made without the wearer’s swab, so a surprise gift arrives in two parts. First the kit, which you can give to them to take the swab, and then the finished piece two to three weeks after their sample reaches us. Many people give the box with the kit inside and the certificate follows. There is more on how that works on our gifting page.
