Start with the three builds
Before the metals, understand the shapes, because the shape does more work in a stack than the colour does.
Spider bracelets are fine, 2mm, and fasten with a slider. They are the quietest of the three and they sit flat.
Clasp bracelets are also fine at 2mm, fastening with a lobster clasp and an extension chain.
Twisted bracelets are two strands wound into a rope, built with 5mm spheres. They are the fullest and they carry the most visual weight.
The simplest good stack is one twisted and one fine. The rope gives you the substance, the fine one gives you the detail, and the difference in scale is what stops it looking like you put on two of the same thing.
Two that always work
Twisted Silver with Spider Silver and Gold. Same tonal family, different weights, and the gold markers on the spider piece lift the whole stack without shouting. This is the safest pairing in the range.
Twisted Pearl and Gold with Pearl Clasp. Warmer, softer, and the pearls at two different sizes, 5mm on the rope and 2mm on the clasp piece, give you texture rather than repetition.
On mixing metals properly
If you want silver and gold on one wrist, the trick is to have something that bridges them rather than two pieces sitting there in opposition.
That is what our silver and gold styles are for. A Spider Silver and Gold or a Twisted Silver and Gold carries both metals already, so it acts as the join between an all silver piece and an all gold one. Put the mixed piece in the middle and the stack reads as intentional.
Two solid pieces in different metals with nothing bridging them is the version that looks accidental.
What the stones do
Worth knowing before you build a stack, because it affects how busy the result looks.
Our fine 2mm spider and clasp bracelets with stones carry Turquoise, Carnelian, Citrine, Amethyst and Amazonite. Our twisted bracelets carry the standard palette: Lapis Lazuli, Garnet, Citrine, Amethyst and Amazonite.
Our pattern styles, the ones described as silver and gold or pearl and gold, carry no stones at all. The markers show as polished gold spheres instead, so they read as texture rather than colour.
That gives you a straightforward lever. If you want a stack with impact, put two stone pieces together. If you want something quieter for work, pair one stone piece with one pattern piece and let the colour appear once rather than twice.
How many
Two is the answer for most wrists. Three works if one of them is fine enough to disappear.
Beyond three you lose the thing that makes these pieces worth wearing, which is that each one is a readable pattern taken from a real profile. Six bracelets is a texture. Two is a story.
Stacking two profiles
The version of this that people do not think of. A stack does not have to be two pieces from your own DNA.
A bracelet made from your profile next to one made from your mother's, or your partner's, or your child's, is a genuinely different object from two of your own. The patterns will not match, because no two profiles do, and that mismatch is the point.
If you are buying two pieces at once the second is half price automatically, with no code. One kit and one laboratory run cover a single order, which is why it works out cheaper. It has to be the same order though, since we delete marker data once a piece is delivered.
Remember that each adult swabs themselves and consents for themselves. For a child, a parent or guardian gives written consent first.
Wearing them well
Put the looser piece nearest your hand and the closer fitting one above it, so they do not fight each other when you move.
Spider sliders let you set exactly how loose each one sits, which is useful in a stack in a way it is not on its own.
Take the whole stack off before swimming, and keep perfume and hairspray away from all of it. Silver darkens over time with wear, which is normal and polishes back.
